Haewon also described the impressive lengths she went to just so she could meet Bae for the first time.
She explained that all trainees are curious about the new people who enter the company—especially if they’re of similar age or were street cast like Bae. Naturally, she wanted to catch a glimpse of Bae as soon as possible.
Trainees are curious about the new trainees of similar ages. You know what I mean? I heard that there was a trainee one year younger than me. And I heard that she was street cast.
Bae also distinctly remembered that day. She described waiting inside a practice room in the JYP Entertainment building and innocently looking at her surroundings.
I was sitting in the vocal room, and I was looking around, curious.
That was when Haewon and another trainee opened the door and used the excuse of needing a mirror in the room! When there’s a will, there’s a way.
And then a friend and I came. Knock, knock. ‘Hello, I’m here for the mirror.’
Haewon’s excuse caused Bae to think that all the mirrors in the building were kept inside that specific vocal room. Imagine her surprise when she finally learned the truth!
I thought, ‘Oh, the mirrors are only in this vocal lesson room.’
After training together for several years and even becoming roommates, the two now confidently call each other close friends.
