Cosmic Girls’ New Photo Book Gains Criticism For Possible Plagiarism Of BTS Albums

Where do you stand in this issue?

On July 8 KST, Starship Entertainment announced pre-orders would start for Cosmic Girls’ 1st Photo book ON&OFF.

This photo book is set to release on August 12, however, the design and artwork of the photo book have started to gain much attention for looking quite similar to BTS’s albums.

Not only were the designs similar, the title of the photo books also raised eyebrows in the BTS fandom. The titles of the photo books were Persona: ON and Ego: OFF, which coincide with BTS’s MAP OF THE SOUL: PERSONA and MAP OF THE SOUL: 7 album concepts. Their most recent album also include song titles such as “ON”, “Intro: Persona”, and “Outro: Ego.”

The Cosmic Girls’ EGO: OFF photo book design also look similar to BTS’s Japanese album Lights.

Fans feel that these titles and designs are too similar to be a coincidence and have started to reach out to Starship about this matter. They hope that people will contact the company instead of blaming the group as it would have most likely been the decision of the company to go through with this concept.

Fans are divided about this issue and what the boundaries are for what is and isn’t plagiarism.
