Singer-Turned-Painter Accused Of Plagiarism After Taking Credit For Assistant’s Paintings

On May 16th, singer-turned-painter Jo Young Nam was accused of taking credit of paintings by his assistant for the last seven years.

A popular singer from the 1970s, Jo Young Nam turned to painting professionally in the 1990s. Since 2009, however, it is reported that he sold over 300 pieces that were actually the work of his assistant. Prosecutors raided the studio Monday to collect evidence on this claim. The celebrity refuted these quickly, saying he only works with assistants on exhibition material.
