Many knew instantaneously that she was referring to SHINee’s Jonghyun, even changing her stage colors and microphone to pearl aqua, SHINee’s fan colour.
The two were known to be close friends who consulted each other with their own works and compositions. IU had also dedicated a speech for him at the past Golden Disk Awards.
Many were touched by her gesture especially with fans preparing to commemorate Jonghyun’s life a year into his death.
the thought of iu’s bringing the aqua pearl microphone all the way here to perform a song for jonghyun is just so soooo sweet and thoughtful ㅠㅠ

Just broke down sobbing because IU threw in A Gloomy Clock into her set list "it was not originally on my set list but I wanted to sing it because I've been thinking about it a lot, and it's about someone I miss a lot." #IUinSG
