BTS’s RM Spills On His Plans To Open His Own Public Art Exhibition

He wants to share his personal collection.

BTS‘s RM is planning to open up his own public art exhibition.

BTS’s RM

On June 28, RM appeared on Episode 1 of Season 2 of UBS‘s Intersections: The Art Basel Podcast. He spoke with American/French art journalist and columnist Marc Spiegler about BTS and art collecting.

RM is known to be quite an art aficionado. He is often “namjooning” when he has the opportunity to go to art museums both locally in Korea and abroad, and he shares his finds with his followers on social media sites, Twitter and Instagram.

My Instagram… it’s kind of like a curation. And the fans visit [the museum] after me when I post it. It’s really great that people could love one’s taste and be there [to] visit the museums. If 300 people see the same artwork, that’s 300 different feelings.

Now, RM has revealed that he may want to share art with others on an even more personal level.

During the podcast episode, RM spoke about his plans to open and own a space where his collection can be viewed by the public. He said that collecting “really gives me the standard to live as a better man, as a better adult, and [as] an artist. I just want to make music like the timeless pieces that I admire.” So, he’d like to share his art collection with others now, just as he shares his museum trips with ARMYs on Instagram

This is my first time actually saying this, but seriously I’m planning to make a small space of my own private collection, and just maybe a café on the first floor and set up my collections… The second and third floor … people could always see the collections…

Of course, until RM officially opens his own art collection exhibit, ARMYs can attend HYBE INSIGHT, the museum commemorating HYBE’s music, artists, and fans. It contains not only exhibits dedicated to the artists and their fans but art pieces. Currently, American contemporary artist Tom Sachs has pieces there.
