ATEEZ’s Hongjoong Turns Into A Rockstar With A Brand New English Cover, And ATINYs Are Ecstatic

You won’t be “numb” after listening to this emotional rendition!

ATEEZ‘s leader Hongjoong is known for releasing covers of songs, especially English ones, with his own special twist. The talented composer seems to effortlessly makeover songs created by other artists to perfectly fit his style and personality, and his latest cover is no different.

On January 5, he released a video of himself singing “Numb” by Linkin Park, an old classic alternative rock song originally released in 2003. The song is known for both its intensity and emotional lyrics, and though Hongjoong changed up the sound for his own cover, it’s no less of a banger.

He added bits of EDM and trap into the song, giving it a more modern-day twist while still keeping the original sound. Check it out here:

This is only the latest of several other covers of English songs that Hongjoong has released. The first one he released in December 2019 was “Space Oddity” by David Bowie, with both English and Korean lyrics in the cover.

His second cover was “Purple Rain” by Prince, which he once again added translated lyrics to really help make it his own.

The third cover Hongjoong released was “Black and White” by Michael Jackson, in which he also included a behind the scenes look at how he produced the energetic, pop-heavy version of the iconic song.

And most recently, his cover uploaded previous to “Numb” was “모처럼” by Yoon Jong Shin, which was the first cover he posted of an originally Korean-language song and included him playing the piano as well as another look behind the scenes of how he created it.

Here’s how ATINYs are reacting on Twitter to his latest iconic cover.

It even got onto trending!

Who knows what masterfully recreated song he’ll release next?
