Oftentimes, K-Pop idols don’t get much say in the songs that they’re given to perform. That’s not always the case, of course, and it does seem to be more common these days for idols to be allowed to write and produce their own music, but there are still a lot of songs that are written by others for groups to perform. Because of this, it’s no wonder that some idols aren’t a fan of all the songs they’re given to create. Here are 15 instances of idols (or even whole idol groups) speaking out about disliking their own music.
Fans have heard that the BLACKPINK members aren’t the biggest fans of “As If It’s Your Last”, since they prefer “black” (girl crush) concepts, and because they got tired of performing it after a some time since they didn’t have a new comeback due to a long hiatus afterwards.
2. Hyoyeon (Girls’ Generation)
Hyoyeon apparently hated “Kissing You” due to it’s cutesy concept so much that she actually contemplated leaving the group because of it!
3. Youngjae (GOT7)
Youngjae didn’t just dislike a song of GOT7’s but actually a whole album. When speaking about the group’s Call My Name album, he had this to say during an interview: ”Honestly, our lead song ‘You Calling My Name’ is rocking, but other numbers in the EP are so-so.”
4. Hongki (F.T. ISLAND)
Hongki is said to dislike the group’s song “I Wish”, and fans think it’s due to the fact that it required him to strain his voice in order to hit certain notes for a good portion of the song, and others say it’s also less in the rock genre than the group is used to and enjoys.
5. Irene (Red Velvet)
Irene isn’t a fan of “Rookie”, due to the somewhat childish and immature sound of the song, given that she’s a nearly 30-year-old woman!
VIXX are known for their dark, mature concepts, so it may not be surprising that the members reportedly aren’t the biggest fans of their more bubbly debut song, “Super Hero”. They even joke that “On and On” is actually their debut song!
7. Sera (9MUSES)
Sera isn’t a fan of 9MUSES’s debut song, “No Playboy”, due to the sexy nature of the song and music video. Given that some of the members were underage at this time, it’s definitely a legitimate reason to dislike it.
B.A.P actually disliked the uncomfortable body-rolling part of “Body & Soul”‘s bridge so much that they later changed the choreography after their lawsuit with their company. Here’s the new one:

9. Siyeon (Dreamcatcher/MINX)
Before she was in Dreamcatcher, Siyeon (and several other Dreamcatcher members) were in a group called MINX, and though there’s no song in particular that fans have heard her speak up about, she apparently just doesn’t like MINX’s songs to be mentioned in general!
10. Yuta (NCT 127)
Though he hasn’t outright spoken against the song, when “Limitless” was about to come out, he said something about the song being good this time… Which fans take to mean that he thought the song that came out before it, “Fire Truck”, wasn’t good!
11. Minhyuk (MONSTA X)
There are apparently several songs of MONSTA X’s that Minhyuk doesn’t like, including “Tropical Night”, “Rodeo”, “X”, and “X-Phenomenon”! He does seem to like songs that other members write, though.
12. Taeyeon (Girls’ Generation)
Sunny was singing to Oh!
Taeyeon said “How many years ago was this. I don’t know why we had to cheer for oppas. It’s still a mystery to me today, why did we have to cheer for oppas.” https://t.co/x6KWa2x0qY

There are a couple of songs Taeyeon doesn’t particularly like, including “Gee” and “Lion Heart”, but she’s also been outspoken against “Oh!”, probably due to the aegyo sort of concept as well as the lyrics.
13. Key (SHINee)
Key doesn’t like SHINee’s song “Hello”, just due to the fact that it doesn’t really suit his personality.
14. Super Junior
None of the members of Super Junior really enjoyed “Spy”, most likely due to the fact that the formations for the choreography changed around a lot and it was difficult to adjust it due to member line-up changes.
15. Nayeon (TWICE)
Nayeon is not a fan of TWICE’s “I’m Gonna Be a Star”, and no one should be too surprised, given that she repeats the title during the song numerous times, enough to make anyone tired of it!
