10+ Side K-Drama Couples That Shone Just As Bright As The Main Leads

Sometimes the Second Couple Syndrome is strong…

Spoiler Alert

This article reveals plot details of a current movie or series.

Sure we’re all technically watching a K-Drama for the main leads, but have you heard of Second Couple Syndrome? Similar to Second Lead Syndrome, Second Couple Syndrome is an upcoming phenomenon of fans enjoying the secondary couple more than the main couple. There are plenty of dramas with this syndrome, but here are just a little over 10 for you to get what we mean.

1. Goo Seung Joon and Seo Dan (Crash Landing On You)

Played by Kim Jung Hyun and Seo Ji Hye, this couple probably seemed a little odd initially, but it soon bubbled into a strong chemistry that just made fans want more! Sadly, their story is not met with a happy ending, but they still manage to shine until the end with their adorable, sentimental moments.

2. Park Ban Ryu and Soo Yeon (Hwarang)

| KBS2

This is a great example of a secondary couple that absolutely steals the show. How could someone not love a cold-hearted man’s heart slowly being warmed by his rival’s sister? Do Ji Han and Lee Da In‘s chemistry was so good that many claim they are leagues better than the main couple.

3. Lim Hee Kyung and Han Joon Woo (True Beauty)

Everyone was quickly enamored with the goofy coupling of Im Se Mi and Oh Eui Shik. Seriously, how cute are they!

4. Grim Reaper and Sunny (Goblin)

This couple, played by Lee Dong Wook and Yoo In Na, was an absolute rollercoaster. One minute we’re laughing and having a good time; the next, we’re sobbing. Their relationship was amazingly complex and a definite treat to watch.

5. Kim Joo Man and Baek Seol Hee (Fight For My Way)

| KBS2

Perhaps a huge reason why many loved this ordinary couple played by Ahn Jae Hong and Song Ha Yoon was because of how amazingly realistic it was. They had their problems, they had their downfalls, but they got through it lovingly.

6. Seo Dae Young and Yoon Myung Joo (Descendants of the Sun)

Jin Goo and Kim Ji Won play possibly one of the most iconic secondary couples ever. Their story was beautifully written and they had so much respect and love for each other.

7. Lee Young Hwa and Seo Dan Ah (Run On)

Choi Soo Young and Kang Tae Oh are definitely stealing the show! Many people are falling in love with this unique pairing and their growing chemistry.

8. Yoon Chan Young and Lee Bo Na (The Heirs)

In a drama with an intense love square, it can be hard to focus on secondary characters. However, Kang Min Hyuk and Krystal truly shined in this drama! Sure they had a few problems and (as many of us learned from K-Dramas) being rich made Bo Na quite entitled sometimes, but they were an adorable couple with many sweet moments to break up the drama.

9. 10th Prince Wang Eun and Park Soon Deok (Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo)

| SBS

EXO‘s Baekhyun and Z.HERA made an amazing, fresh team in such a dark drama. Every moment they’re onscreen just warms your heart. Of course, until you remember what drama you’re watching.

10. Kwon Eun Taek and Jang Bo Ra (Cheese in the Trap)

Nam Joo Hyuk and Park Min Ji just make the perfect couple! Eun Taek feels like the type of boy every girl would want after seeing his love and care.
