Lee Hi reveals Yang Hyun Suk won’t allow her to date; tells her to experience indirect dating

During an interview with My Daily, solo artist Lee Hi talked about her forbidden dating policy as well as her episodes with Yang Hyun Suk of YG Entertainment.

On November 14th at a cafe located in Mapo-gu, Seoul, Lee Hi talked about her experiences of working closely with YG Entertainment’s Yang Hyun Suk, and all the hardships she has been through, especially when it comes to dating.

When Lee Hi began explaining how she recently started to feel lonely, the interviewer slyly suggested, “If you’re bored or lonely, why don’t you try dating?

In response to the suggestion, Lee Hi answered, “Recently, Yang Hyun Suk gave Akdong Musician‘s Lee Chan Hyuk permission to date, so I asked, ‘How about me?’ But the answer I received was that I was forbidden to date. Without any reason, he just said, ‘If I say no, then it’s a no.’ I couldn’t really ask any further.

She continued, “When I told him that I couldn’t focus on my true emotions while singing from lack of relationship experience, all he told me was, ‘You have a wide range and room to express your emotions even with indirect experience.’ He even told Akdong Musician’s Lee Suhyun, ‘Although you’re still young, you will have the possibility to date once you’re over 20 years old.’ I guess I’m the only one who’s not allowed to date. It’s funny because I don’t even have a set term in my no-dating policy.

The young artist began expressing her true feelings and opinions regarding her semi-hiatus in the music industry for the past two years, “I think I’m becoming a little more depressed because I haven’t been able to do the music that I really want to. Right now, there are so many things I want to do. I love everything and I want to tell and express these feelings to the people around me, but I just can’t seem to do so, so it makes me really upset.

Being a solo artist really makes it enjoyable to have collaboration stages with other singers. I recently performed a collaboration stage with my 2NE1 seniors, it was amazing. It’s always scary and nerve-racking to go up on a huge stage all by myself, but to have someone beside you to cover your flaws and to help you out with their energy is a very exciting and grateful thing,” Lee Hi explained.

Recently, both Lee Hi and Akdong Musician’s Lee Suhyun have joined hands for a new YG Family unit named Hi Suhyun with a single titled, “I’m Different” featuring iKON‘s Bobby.
